Prayer

Prayer, hmm I'm feeling guilty already.

I am rubbish at praying in general, and particularly rubbish at praying for the CU (and I'm the President - oops).

I reckon that there are quite a few people in my position, who just don't think about the CU much when they pray, and if they do don't really know what to pray and just end up praying quick generic prayers.

So for this next year we hope to have on our website a list of CU related prayer requests.  This will be password protected for privacy, and can be used as much or as little as you want.

We aren't doing this to guilt trip you, or because we are bored, but because we worry that maybe we as a CU may not be as dedicated to prayer as we ought, and that we need to depend on God more and talk to him more.

So feel free to use these as much or as little as you want, they are here to help, not hinder.

Things to be praying for during the holidays (Maybe pray for just a couple each time):

  • A great intake of Christian freshers with a passion for God and serving him
  • A great intake of freshers who are keen to learn more about God
  • That God would place these two groups together so that they can build good relationships and share the gospel
  • For the CU leadership to work together well and keep the CU going in line with the vision
  • For the CU website that it would be done soon, and uber swanky and useful
  • For as many students as possible to get a chance to hear and respond to the gospel in the upcoming year
  • For the events going on in Halls, that they'd be fun, people would get to know each other and the gospel
  • For the evang team as they prepare the BBQs for freshers week
  • For the stall at Fresh, for a good location and that we'd be especially friendly :-)
  • For the House party organisation, and that we'd have a great and beneficial time
  • Thank God for a great year last year - For many encouraging conversations, and people coming to know Christ
  • Thank God for the free Gospel project - a chance to handout a copy of Mark's Gospel to every student that they might actually read
  • Thank God for the chance to have a CU in Bristol, free from persecution
  • Thank God for good relations with the Students Union
  • Thank God for great and committed members of CU
  • Thank God for the hard work that Hall CU leaders do
I know its lots, so don't pray for them all.  A bit at a time.  Its supposed to be a resource not a burden.
